Located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the restaurant Taxidermista is without doubt a gastronomic and cultural jewel in the city of Barcelona. This fabulous restaurant boasts a wealth of history and culture, once known as the Gran Café Espanyol, it was the hangout of famous Spanish intellectuals such as Angel Guimerá in the 19th century and years later became the workshop of a taxidermist and was often visited by the likes of Salvador Dali, Joan Miró and Ava Gardner. In 1999 Beth Gali and Jaume Benavent opened the Taxidermista restaurant, mixing contemporary and minimalist design with the original stunning features of the building. The impressive Mediterranean menu is full of the freshest ingredients the market has to offer, with fabulous dishes such as salad of tomato, goat’s cheese and mango vinaigrette or a fantastic Iberico risotto with aubergines and courgettes. Artistic events are often held at Taxidermista, where art and culture come together along with delicious light and healthy Mediterranean cooking. Wine lovers are not forgotten either with an excellent temperature controlled wine cellar full of the best Spanish wines. If you are visiting Barcelona, make a visit to the Taxidermista restaurant, you won’t be disappointed.
