Perched right along the stunning Barcelona seafront of Barceloneta is the L’Escamarlá restaurant, where the focus is on simple and fresh fish & seafood. L’Escamarlá is a typical fish & seafood restaurant, decorated in a maritime style with simple wooden tables and chairs and all sorts of nautical memorabilia. There really is no need to add any fuss to this restaurant, it boasts magnificent views over the long sandy beach and the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea, and the food is excellent. The terrace, which can seat up to 90 diners, is probably the best place to sit, where you can soak up the sunshine and take in the views, and somehow fish and seafood always tastes better outside. So what’s cooking? The most popular dish has to be the sea bass cooked in salt; the fish just falls off and is so juicy. Other dishes worth a mention are the exquisite rice dishes, the lobster and the mixed fried fish covered in the lightest of batter. If you don’t fancy fish then there are some meat dishes to choose from, but L’Escamarlá is primarily a fish restaurant.
